Here comes the sun

My goodness!!! I haven't blogged in what feels like forever. I have no excuse really...I have a habit of disappearing off the internet whenever I feel like it, we live in a digital world and sometimes it becomes overwhelming for me if I am constantly on the internet. Besides going MIA on my blog I can actually say I'm in  such a good space right now, everything within my inner world is in such a peaceful state, I no longer allow the actions of others to disrupt my peace. While I was away I made myself this beautiful summer dress, I was drawn to the fabric and the colour.
Yellow is such a happy colour, it instantly puts one in a good mood. To be honest, I have only owned about 2 or 3 yellow items in my entire life. I have never been the biggest fan of yellow till recently, I fell completely in love with the fabric when I saw it and decided there and then to make a summer dress with it. When I was planning to shoot this dress I specifically chose a  setting that would make the dress stand out and the palm tree worked perfectly for the whole shoot. I love how I have mastered the art of choosing colours that compliment my skin tone.

But first, brunch

Happy Friday everyone!!!I really enjoy preparing food for my yoga and brunch events and for the second event I was not sure what to serve. When I started hosting this event I felt like I had gone a bit overboard with the first menu, so I learned my lesson and kept brunch light. I decided to serve fresh fruit salad with yoghurt and I also baked vanilla and carrot muffins served with juice or coffee. The fruit salad was such a hit with the ladies which was I was really happy about.

Balancing act

Liane always starts our yoga sessions with shoulder balances on her balancing chair. This pose is known as the upside down pose or inversion pose in yoga. It strengthens your arms and shoulders because you use them to hold your entire body up,it has a lot of benefits when done properly.

*It helps increase blood flow to the head and scalp which calms down the body and mind.
*It helps relieve stress when combined with long, slow breathing.
* It strengthens the core muscles because having your body in a upside down pose forces you to rely on your core strength to hold your legs up and keep your balance throughout the pose.
* This pose can be both energizing and calming. Inversion poses are a natural brain booster, this is because this pose causes blood to rush to the brain causing a surge of energy throughout your body.

Yoga and brunch- Second edition

I feel like I haven't blogged in such a long time and in between that time I have been doing quite a lot I just haven't had time to sit down and blog about it. In between all that time I hosted two yoga and brunch events, one was this past weekend and the other was in December. I actually forced myself to sit down and post about my second yoga class, otherwise I wouldn't find the time to do it.

On the 23rd of December I hosted my second yoga and brunch event with the help of my other awesome yoga instructor, Liane. The previous yoga class was instructed by Marleen, so everyone that attended didn't know what to expect from Liane's class. We began the class by doing shoulder balances on Liane's balancing chair and everyone seemed to enjoy it even though they were a bit nervous to try it out. I loved that Liane came with yoga props because it made the whole session fun for us. I will post photos of us doing shoulder balances on her balancing chair later on. During the hour long session with Liane we did a lot of forward bends which everyone seemed to enjoy, Liane's classes are much more intense but the body and mind benefit quite a lot from it. After our yoga session we had brunch and did henna, I'll also post more pictures of that. When I started hosting this I never thought it would be something I do regularly but it seems to be growing and everyone who attends really loves the calmness that yoga brings to them after every session, I'm really glad I started this and I am more grateful to everyone that attends regularly.
