Little red dress

These past two weeks have been a bit rough, work has been keeping me on my toes(I need a 1 month vacation lol).I managed to finish the red dress I was working on and I really love it, the fit was just perfect. I opted for an up-do hairstyle because I didn't want my braids to hide the lace applique detail on the dress and I must say, stitching on the lace applique took quite a bit of time but the end result was beautiful. I really feel proud when I make a dress and it comes out just as I had imagined it.

Creative process

Before I construct a dress or any garment I sit down , research a few ideas, sketch a couple of designs, narrow those designs down to  one design, source fabrics and then I make the dress or whatever garment I am working on. I needed a stunning outfit for the 22nd of April and because I have never owned a red dress I decided to design one for myself and I love how it's coming along.I captured a little bit of the creative process that takes place when I create a garment. I will definitely post pictures of  the dress when it's complete.

Carrot juice

I am a petite girl and I have always been(thanks to my awesome genes). I don't do any intense exercises to maintain my slender frame, besides yoga but I try to eat healthy and sometimes it's difficult because junk food can be so damn yummy but I try my best not to eat junk regularly, I would rather have a hearty, home-made meal. I love taking care of myself, more especially taking care of my skin and hair. The reason I love juicing so much is because it has so many great benefits for my hair and skin plus carrot juice is delicious. I have never experienced any skin problems but that does not mean I should not take good care of my skin. Carrot juice is my go-to juice for beautiful, glowing skin and it always leaves my body feeling  renewed.

Here are some benefits of carrot juice:
*Carrots are high in biotin which is known to promote hair growth
*Reduces dryness and scars: If your skin looks dull and lifeless try drinking carrot juice regularly. It helps improve hydration thus keeps your skin moisturised.
*Prevents acne: Carrots are high in essential vitamins. Carrot juice helps prevent acne by detoxifying your body.
*Source of vitamin needed for skin: Carrot juice acts as a vitamin supplement for your skin and makes it glow.
*Aids hair growth: Drinking carrot juice regularly can make your hair beautiful and healthy, it aids hair growth and prevents dandruff on your scalp.

Scorpion pose

I am so chuffed to see that I am getting better and better at forearm stands. This is a scorpion pose, last time I posted a picture of the variation of the scorpion pose and touched on a few benefits. The benefits I wrote about apply to  this scorpion pose as well. The reason why this pose is called the scorpion pose  is because the pose resembles the scorpion with its tail lifted upwards. When the scorpion wants to attack its victim ,it raises the tail above the back and strikes the victim over the head. This pose resembles a scorpion ready to strike. The only difference between the scorpion pose and the variation of the scorpion pose is that with the scorpion pose, the legs are hanging right above the head. Whereas with variation of the scorpion pose you can play around with your legs, one leg can hang above your head, while the other leg hangs just  above your stomach.

Pre-shampoo treatment

I normally do a pre-shampoo treatment on my hair whenever  I take out any protective styles. My favourite oils to use are castor oil and olive oil. After taking out all my braids I mix up the castor oil and olive oil in one bowl and heat the mixture up a little bit then I apply the oils to my hair, making sure I also massage  the oils onto my scalp. I cover my afro with a plastic and head wrap just so I don't leave oil stains on my pillows, the oils are normally left in my hair overnight. Once I wake up I wash off the oils with African black soap  and warm water . This treatment leaves my hair feeling softer, thicker and less prone to breakage.

Forearm stand

The forearm pose is also known as the peacock pose,it's an inversion pose which is used for strengthening your arms and shoulders. This pose looks simple but it's not, its quite difficult to maintain balance while putting all your weight on your forearms and like I have said before I never do any advanced poses without warming up. I am really happy to see that I am getting better and better at forearm stands because I used to struggle a lot with forearm poses, it has taken time, constant practise and patience with my body to reach this level. I wouldn't urge anyone to try advanced poses without consulting a professional yoga instructor.

Here are some of the benefits of the forearm pose:
*Improves overall sense of balance and body stability.
*Enhances the functioning of the abdominal organs.
*Calms the mind by relieving it from stress, tension and anxiety.
*Stretches the shoulders, chest, neck and belly.
*Relieves the body from fatigue.

Oh baby it's a wild world

I am completely in love with this denim jacket that I embroidered, hopefully it will be the last jacket I personalise otherwise I will end up with a cupboard full of personalised denim jackets.
I love statement pieces or garments that look unique, so I decided to personalise this jacket with the words,"Oh baby its a wild world" because lets be honest, it really is a wild world. I paired it up with my olive slip dress for fashion week and I loved how well the jacket worked with my whole look.
