Old hollywood inspired outfit

I've really missed blogging and I have accepted that there will be times when I will fail to post content consistently because a lot of  the time I am chasing work deadlines. I took these pictures a while ago when we did a photo shoot for the Miss Vaal pageant with the 15 finalists. We had to dress all 15 girls in our garments and we really had a lot of fun helping them get dressed. I wasn't sure what to wear for the shoot but I wanted my outfit to suit the old Hollywood theme that we were given, so I chose a simple tulip dress and paired it up with a faux fur scarf ( of course I had to be extra lol) and I wore my olive green heels that I am obsessed with.

Go Boho or go home

I had the time of my life this past weekend!!!My sister took me to a music festival called Huawei  Joburg day and in true Moco style I had to dress the part. When my sister told me about it I started planning my whole outfit in my head. I am a big fan of boho style and I really wanted my outfit to give off boho vibes so I paired up a long skirt I made ( of course it had to have a high-slit lol ) with a wrap-around top, a denim jacket, a floppy hat, my gold neckpiece and to complete the whole  boho look I wore combat boots. I totally loved everything about this look, It was such a chilled look fit for a music festival and that's what I love about my style,it's not specific,I can go from looking prim and proper to laid-back and super casual, what matters is feeling confident in what I wear. I love dressing up and I never want to limit myself by sticking to one specific style, life is too short to wear boring clothes.

Hair Mayonnaise

I love this product it honestly gives my hair so much life lol. It always leaves my hair feeling soft, manageable and adds shine to it. I usually do a hair mayonnaise treatment  once a month and since I started using this product I've noticed that my hair is much healthier and fuller. When  I did the big chop I only invested in good quality products for my hair and this  product is the best

How I apply hair mayonnaise to my hair:
I usually do a pre shampoo treatment on my hair first, then I wash it off with African black soap, your scalp needs to be clean when you do a hair mayonnaise treatment. After washing my hair I apply the treatment directly to my scalp and hair, as I apply the treatment I make sure I'm massaging it onto my scalp then I put on a plastic shower cap over my hair and let the treatment condition my hair overnight. When I wake up I wash the treatment off and apply oils to my hair then I stretch my hair using the African threading method.

Benefits of hair mayonnaise :
*Promotes healthy hair growth.
*Conditions and adds moisture to dry hair.
*Treats dandruff by removing excessive oil production.
*Strengthens hair.
*Prevents hair breakage.

A letter to my 27 year old self

I turn 27 today and it's such an emotional day because the past 2 years have been so difficult for me emotionally, yet here I am, strong in all the places I was weak. I dedicated the whole of 2016 to healing myself and let me tell you, trying to heal yourself is the hardest thing you will ever have to do, it's an on going process. It does not happen over night and it never stops. At 27 I have found myself and made myself whole again but I know that there's still a lot of healing to do, I guess we never stop healing ourselves. It took me a whole 2 years to come back home to myself and now I realise that attempting to heal my broken parts is a beautiful form of self love. I have devoted every second of my life to loving myself completely and unconditionally and discovering who I am and what it is that I really want. I always make sure that I come first, that my happiness comes first and that I do whatever it is that brings joy to my heart. I admire my strength, the way I always put myself back together so effortlessly every time  the world tries to break me. I am one hell of a woman and I know my worth and my strength. I have survived internal wars no one knows about and still I stand with my head held up high, proud to be me. I turned my pain into power and I learned the importance of walking away from anything that isn't good for me anymore. I no longer empty myself just to make someone else full and these past 2 years have made me realise that sometimes we need to be alone in order to know who we really are . I am so grateful to be turning a year older and I thank the universe for all that I am.

Hot oil treatment

Happy Monday everyone!!!who am I kidding Mondays are never happy lol. I dragged myself through wash day this weekend, I really wasn't up for washing my afro but I managed to and I even did a hot oil treatment because Sundays are for pampering my Afro. I love my natural hair and I also love taking care it. I took out my box braids a week ago to give my hair a bit of a break from protective styles and whenever I remove my braids I always do a pre-shampoo treatment with olive oil and castor oil. This time I did a hot-oil treatment using olive oil only , hot oil treatments help stimulate blood flow, while also assisting with hair growth. They also assist with common hair care problems, such as dandruff, dry scalp and add moisture to the hair. When I do a hot oil treatment I heat up olive oil in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds and I wait for it to cool off a little bit then I apply it directly to the scalp then I cover my hair with a shower cap for 30 minutes. After that I wash out the oil with African black soap and condition my hair.

Benefits of hot oil treatments:
*Helps to moisturise dry hair.
*Helps with a dry scalp and dandruff.
*Helps increase blood circulation to the scalp.
*Strengthens and adds shine to hair.

Not looking

Hello September

It's Spring!!! I'm not usually a fan of spring or summer( I love winter) but I'm over the cold now and for once in my life I am genuinely excited about spring, and I am even planning on making myself some beautiful summer clothes. September is also my birthday month so that's another reason I am so happy to welcome this new month. I hardly posted on my blog last month and I feel  bad that I didn't stick to my schedule like I planned to but August was such a jam-packed month for me, a lot of things happened all at once which was overwhelming . Work was more hectic than usual and in the middle of all the pressure of chasing deadlines,my dog Russie , was put down. I was so devastated because she was my first dog and my dad got her for me when I was going through a really bad period in my life, so losing her broke my heart. I used to think people who cried for their pets were being dramatic but now that I lost Russie I know how it feels. I don't think a person who doesn't own a pet or ever has will understand how painful it is to lose one. I didn't even have time to deal with my emotions properly on that day  because I had to get back to work straight after going to the vet to say goodbye to Russie. I hope September is a much better month for me and I will try my best to post more content.
